Welcome Back to Krupa’s Corner

Although I have not lived in Charlotte for a long time, I have prioritized finding different opportunities to be active in my community. Community service is important to me. I believe I can help make the world a better place by giving back to others.

After learning about the Carolina Migrant Network’s Monarca Fellowship program, I applied on a whim. It was one of the best decisions I made during my freshman year. Being part of this organization allowed me to grow my knowledge of the challenges faced by Charlotte’s immigrant community. I made lasting friendships and became more civically involved by learning how to organize and develop campaigns.

Throughout the process I had opportunities such as going to Washington D.C to rally for the first time, and doing voter registration tabling at UNC Charlotte. Experiences such as this one are so important.

If I could give a piece of advice to someone trying to become more engaged in civics, it would be to find an organization that resonates with you and get involved. Taking that first step starts a movement!
